Pull Cable Tongue Latch Release Lever Retrofit Process

Removing the Rivets

  1. Use the Center Punch and Hammer to punch the Pins out of the 6 Rivets located on the side of the box.
  2. info Do not punch out the 4 Rivets on the door front.

  3. With the Drill and 3/16” Bit, drill out the 6 Rivets the rest of the way.

Removing the Previous Bolt and Washers

  1. Open the door to the box.
  2. With the 3/16” Allen Wrench, remove the installed ¼”-20 Bolt from the PEM Nut that is located in the back wall. 
  3. Remove the installed ¼”-20 Bolt completely from the lever mechanism along with the Large Flat Washer, Aluminum Spacer, and the ¼” Flat Washer.
  4. report_problem  Be careful not to drop the pieces.

Installing the New Lock Washer

  1. To properly install the New Lock Washer, you will need to place hardware on the Bolt before inserting the Bolt back into the Lever Mechanism. Place the following hardware on the Bolt in the respective following order:
    1. The New ¼” Lock Washer
    2. The ¼” Flat Washer
    3. The Aluminum Spacer
  2. Once you have placed the hardware in the correct order onto the Bolt, insert the Bolt back into the hole in the Lever Mechanism.
  3. Place the Large Flat Washer on the Bolt on the other side of the Lever Mechanism.
  4. Insert the Bolt Assembly into the PEM Nut and hand-tighten.
  5. Use 3/16” Allen Wrench to tighten the Bolt completely into the PEM Nut.


Finishing Installation

    report_problem  Make sure all the Rivets are completely pushed through before closing the box.

  1. Close the box and make sure the Rivet Holes are lined up.
  2. Using a Drill with a T-30 Tamper-Proof Socket Bit, install 6 Button Head #14 Self-Tapping Screws into the 6 Drilled-Out Rivet Holes, ensuring the holes stay lined up. You have completed the installation.
